I've been thinking about what to dress Kaya up for Halloween. One idea is a flower, like maybe from the show Fifi & the Flowertots. I thought I could dress her in green pants & shirt and buy/make a flower thing to go around her head. Any ideas? I'm also open to other ideas esp if someone has a cool costume that would fit a 2 1/2 yo that I can borrow. I also have a cool cookie monster outfit that she wore last year that someone could use. Maybe have a halloween costume trade-off at someone's house (I'd be happy to host) or even a sit & sew halloween. I have to admit I don't know how to make anything, but I'll give it a go. She's too young to be mad at me for putting her in a dorky outfit anyway!

I have a duck costume someone is welcome to use, it fit Caleb (barely, but he loved it) last year as a tall 3 year old. I think the flower costume sounds like a great idea. You could maybe use a big headband or scarf and make some petals out of fabric, then put some floral wire and/or some batting in them to give them shape, then attach them to the headband. Or maybe you could make a bunch of smaller petals, then attach them to hair clips and put them all over her head! Then she'd look like a chrysanthemum! (Like a 2 yr old would stand for that!)

I have been trying to think of a fun idea for Wednesday and I, with her in the front carrier. The cutesy idea was me as the farmer, the carrier as the egg, and her as a baby chick. The creepy idea was me as Sigourney Weaver and the carrier and baby as the alien. Yeah, I know ... So, any other ideas?

I like your creepy idea Tiffany!

Would anyone be interested in a costume swap/fall party kind of thing?  I'd be happy to host it at Mama's Hip in early October.  We could share costumes or ideas for costumes.  And have cider and fall snacks, maybe pot luck.  Anytime would be fine.  If anyone is interested maybe we could use this thread to get organized.

Let me know what you think!

So I was asking Kaya what she wanted to be for Halloween: a flower or a cowgirl? She said "I want to dress up like an elephant for Halloween" I was kinda surprised that she already had it all planned out. So an elephant it is. I just have to find a costume.

Henson is going to be a spider. I have had my heart set on it since last Halloween. I can't wait.

Shannon, is Mama's Hip going to have a Halloween party?

Sorry I missed this!  I definitely want to have Halloween Party.  I'll look at the schedule and sort a time out.
We already have a Fall celebration planned to coincide with October Storytime, Wednesday, October 15th at 10:30.  We'll have stories, snacks, songs and pumpkins to paint.  I hope lots of people can make it.  Feel free to bring something to contribute.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Shannon, will the party be in the evening or during the day?
