I think there are probably a lot of better uses for any extra human breast milk than products like ice cream.  I mean, there are A LOT of babies out there that could benefit from donated milk.  Think of all the NICUnits across the country.  All the adopted at birth babies who go to non-lactating women.  All the formula kids ... the list goes on and on, and I don't put folks who like ice cream on the list of high priority need.

oh, i totally agree. i posted this late, after i read it on a half friends blog. and i was more annoyed by hers and commenters thoughts i guess. saying things like "thats what milk cows are for". and "thats gross! im not a baby!"

i just get confused as to why people think human milk is so disgusting, but cows, confined to tight, unkempt (to say the least) living quarters for their entire life, their milk is all any human should ever want or need. or something.

i keep telling myself i need a program that doesnt allow me to type after a certain hour, because my brain goes haywire and its impossible to convey my thoughts properly into words. i have yet to find it though.

You know, I may be wrong, but I really don't think they're serious. I think the whole point is to make people stop and think about why the thought of eating human breast milk ice cream is "gross" while eating cow ice cream doesn't phase most people.

It did make me stop and think. Frankly, I kinda went "ew", as well. And then I had to ask myself why.

I think a natural repulsion to all things "body fluid" pervades our thought processes.  I mean, my rational mind knows that breast milk is the single most wonderful thing I can make for my child, but I balk at the suggestion of consuming it myself.  The one time I did try it, I found it to be sickly sweet and it made my stomach turn...and yet, my son things its the greatest thing around.

And then there is the part where I love all things dairy...cows, goats, sheep...yummy.  Of course, Im not a fan of industrial farming in any respect, but thats a whole different conversation.
